Zephyrhills High School Zephyrhills, Florida DEDICATION Mr. Steuart is one of the most out- standing teachers at ZHS. He is always willing to help a student with a prob- lem, whether school related or per- sonal. He has a certain pride and devo- tion in his work that is hard to equal. He sets an example, not just as a fine teacher, but as a considerate and caring human being. For these and so many more reasons we, the class of ‘78’, do proudly dedicate the 1978 ZEPHIL- SCO to you . . . . . . Paul Steuart. 2 V 10v s -'I' ' qOc' v 1 Sr NT' pc Vs On V eV4' J - ? The trials and tribulations of school life are expressed every day with the pride of Zephyrhills in mind. Whether in athletics or organizations, the participation of students is usually enthusiastic, and the pride of winning not for oneself only, but for the title Zephyr- hills to be ranked high, is given at activities all year round. Being moved to a 3-A classification of athletics for the first year — our program has proven to be a con- tender in all categories. 'J - Jhc AiL i. h Y- . ---------- . jfa y i - -y -; .j grj. JUNIORS CLASS OF ‘79’ As this school year comes to a close, the Juniors are about to reach the peak of the Mountain of knowledge, only to discover a whole world of education within their grasp. For the class of ’79 this year echoes with golden memories overflowing with laughter and tears from homecoming, powderpuff and the Prom!!! They were the first guinea pigs to be required to pass a literacy test in order to graduate, but did they complain? You bet your sweet potatoe they did, but that's beside the point. They shall go down in history, the beginning of a new era, and all other classes behind them will follow in the path they have trod. Sophomores showed their school spirit by being strong competitors in activities during homecoming week and placing second in the float divi- sion. Sophomores at this time are past the excitement stage of being Freshmen, but have not yet reached the stage of graduation thoughts. There are many good times and those good times turn into treasured memories. OFFICERS Raymond LaCour. President: Maria Spoto. Vice President; Tara Green. Treasurer: Sheri Schneider. They took a lot of BULL from the older DOGS but made it through this year successfully. With the addition of our new freshmen this year we had an addition of BULLDOG spirit. The little people you see in a school, if you look closely , are freshmen. Inside those small, quiet bodies rumbles a great storm of BULLDOG spirit. The freshmen have survived sneers from the sophomores, jokes from the juniors, and stomps from the seniors; but they made it with the thought that next year, they too will have freshmen to pick on. 1977-78 OFFICERS: Stan Stinson: President. People are so caught up in trying to get ahead and attain material wealth that they don't even recognize themselves or what they are . . . . . . as I stand here alone on the sandy beaches of time. I look out into the vast emptiness, yet, almost fullness of eternity . . . . . . undaunted, we pursue these secrets each of us given a pocket full of eternities, we use each one sparingly; while jealously guarding the rest. . . 229 . . . We go to meet the Rising Sun on the dawning of a New Day . . . With all of the activities that ZHS students do, it isn't hard to see that spirit and pride exists with every moment, in school as well as out in the community. The pride and spirit doesn’t stop with this year’s students, but is shown to ZHS students of the future as well. So to those future members, under- class, faculty, and especially to the graduating Seniors of‘78’. . . Good Luck! Editor’s Note: Thanks to all that took part in pro- ducing this wonderful yearbook! Good luck in the future. JEFFSTROUT Editor-in-Chief 4978 Zephilsco 231
