Student Council The Student Council helps in planning many of the school's events. The D.C.T. is a worthwhile program for students who want to work part-time while going to school. D.C.T. Band Head Majorette: Miss Jere Alston. Jere is a senior and also a member of the Beta Club and Annual Staff. She is seen leading the band in all the parades and at each half-time show during football season. It is Jere s duty to teach the majorettes their various routines. Captain: Lieutenant: Ray Bolt Kaye Henry The High School Band presented many spec- tacular performances this year which were enjoyed by all who attended the football games. Forthe first time the band presented a series of concerts which featured the senior members of the band. 36 Majorettes Sunnye Lanham, Jere Alston, Elaine Howard, and Tom McQuady. Varsity Cheerleaders 39 The J. V. Band plays at all the J. V. Football games and at several of the yearly concerts. J. V. Band Head Majorette: Vonnie Kinsey. Suzanne Winters J- v. Cheerleaders Nancy Davis The J. V. Cheerleaders are chosen at the beginning of each year by a group of teachers. It is their duty to keep up school spirit at the games and also during basketball season. New in the respect that there has never been an Art Club at Z.H.S. It is composed of students who are interested in learning about art. It is the task of the Art Club to decorate the school bulletin boards. They have also entered some of their works in local art shows and at the county fair. These stu- dents have worked diligently to help raise the cul- tural aspects of our school. At the left is a photo of one of the Art Club's weekly meetings. They meet to discuss art programs for the school and to exchange ideas. The Beta Club is an organization of students who have an average of A or B for at least three semesters. The team members are chosen on their ability to speak in groups and their willingness to study. Each member does his own papers and research although they have a required topic. This year the national debating topic was Medicare.
