CLASS HISTORY On a very eventful day in September, 1941, nine eager little boys and girls, who were to finish their schooling at Z.H.S., trudged to Mrs. Helen Hamilton for their first year. The group included Patty Smith, David Vestal, Roger Whitworth, Tobey Smith, Wanda Williams, Robert Jones, Neva Jean Sellars, Beverly Bolt, and Margaret Hill. They advanced to the second grade, under the direction of Mrs. Essie Mae Blitch. In the third grade, after some moving around, Raymond Geiger decided to join the happy band. Mrs. J. A. Turner led the group. On to the fourth grade and Mrs. Travis. Hazel Dukes joined the jolly little demons and Lyndall Wheeler came up from Miami. And now the fifth grade. That was the year wehad two teach- ers, Miss Martha Barnes and Mrs. Turner. Two more members joined, Ger- ald Miller and Mary Kate Witt. It wasn't long before we were in the sixth grade with Miss Hodges. Mary Lou Richards and Jim Kennedy came in. Junior High, the seventh grade and Mrs. Alice Atwater for our overseer proved an exciting experience. Ginger Sawtelle rejoined us and decided to finish school here. We advanced to the eighth. We had five new additions that year, Sebron Thomas, Joan Braden, Jim Welsch, Bill Sabin, and Merl- ene Nelson. What a time we had in our Freshman year! We were inhigh school and Mrs. Matthews was again our sponsor. We had only one addition that year, Mildred Mattingly, from Alabama. The class officers were: President, Joan Braden; VicePresident, David Vestal; Secretary, Margaret Hill; and Treasur- er, Merlene Nelson. In our Sophomore year, Patricia Trebour joined us from New Jersey. Mr. Bill Moore was class sponsor and our officers were: President, Joan Braden; VicePresident, David Vestal; Secretary Margaret Hill; and Treasur- er Bunt Massey. At last we were Juniors. It wasn’t long before we realized we had a lot of hard work before us as many of us tested our acting ability in the class play, Henry's Hired Aunt. Soon after this we began making plans for our gala Pirate Banquet, which was held at Hotel Zephyr and Prom at the Amer- ican Legion Hall. It was declared a success by all who attended. Shirley Lanham came in that year. Our class officers were: President, Margaret Hill; Vice President, Gerald Miller; Secretary, Merlene Nelson; and Treasurer, Mary Lou Richards. Mr. Dave Boatwright was our able guide through that year. Under the leadership of Mr. John Clements we advanced to our Senior year only to realize that our school days would soon be over. Dorris Whit- worth came down from Tennessee to graduate with us. Our class officers were; President, Neva Jean Sellars; Vice President, Joan Myers; Secretary, Beverly Bolt; and Treasurer, Patty Smith. The comedy, Act Your Age was our production of the year. We will long remember the banquet and prom which the Junior class gave in our honor and especially Class Night, Baccalaureate, and finally Graduation on June 2nd at the Home Theater.

CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1953, being of sound mind and body, hereby make and declare this to be our last will and testament. To our Alma Mater and all the students and faculty who make up our wonderful school, we leave this Zephilsco of 1953. To the teachers we leave fond memories of the perfect Seniors of 1953, also many thanks. To Mr. McPherson we leave a giant bottle of hair dye to touch up the gray hairs we helped him sprout, and luck with the coming Seniors. To Coach Clements, our sponsor, we leave corrals full of thanks and a lasso to set off his cowboy shirt and also, to help keep Johnny and Diane near. To the Junior Class, we leave our ability to maintain a dignified atsmophere in ourhomeroom at all times. We also leave a nice padded cell with pink stripes and purple polka-dot walls to help them further their curious activities. To the Freshman Class we leave our ability to become quiet, dignified Seniors. I, Margaret Hill, will my slim figure to Nellie Jean Kimprell and my ability to skip school and get away with it to HaroldHinsz. I, Tobey Smith, will my ability to make good grades in school to DickBraden. I, Joan Myers, will my motto of playing hockey just for practice to Floyd Cherry. I, Mary Lou Richards, will my record of safe, courteous, and slow driving to Ira Hill. I, Roger Whitworth, will my black, curly hair to Norman Pricher. I, Merlene Nelson, will my ability to go steady with all the boys to Sara Mae Cox and my strawberry blond hair to David Lee. I, Wanda Williams Riley, will my ability to get in everybody's hair to Howard Obstand my flirtatious ways to Joan Lefler. I, David Vestal, will my ability to play hockey to Tom Bright and my height to Lonnie Whitworth. I, Beverly Bolt, will my nice quiet ways to Gordon Pitcher. I, Jim Welsch, will my great, big, glamorous nose to Wendell Hdgeman, and my knowledge of nothing to Keith Witham. I, Patricia Trebour, will my ability at shorthand to Anna Greene and my long, wavy hair to Patsy Ryals. I, Dorris Whitworth, will my height to H.C. Nesbit. I, Joan Braden, will my delicate blush to Gerald Jackson, and my ability to always look innocent to Louis Loysch. I, Lyndall Wheeler, will my nice quiet laugh to Betty Jo Boyette, and my ability to tell a joke to Phyllis Geiger. I, Patty Smith, will my title as Most Flirtatious to Kenneth Keen and my shy, bashful ways to Bill Baker. I, Robert Jones, will my ways of catching girls to Loyd Davis. I, Neva Jean Sellars, will my ability to control the Senior Class to Dorothy Austin and my quiet ways to Patsy Kline. I, Gerald Miller, will my ability to drive a car slowly to Eddie McClellan. I.
