 77- 78 FEATURE TWIRLER AND MAJORETTES Six selected band members led the band at Cincinnati, at the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami, and helped create PEP between the student body and the band. Majorettes for this year were Feature Twirler, Lori Huey; Deanna Dingey, Carla Gillard, Cathy Coulson, Vicki Thorn, and Denise Watts. Majorettes were chosen at try-outs for their respective po- sitions and were required to be band members. They also attended a baton camp at Ohio Wesleyn to train for the season while the Feature Twirler was fortunate enough to teach at several camps.

M • « • ''f « . i i ‘ ' «S •• 41: • ’ • The band got off to a very low-spirited start this year at Camp Russell. This was the sight of band camp. Eventually the spirit started to rise and the practice increased to bring us to the four main events of the year Band Competition at Wintersville in which the band placed first in their class, Cincinnati Bengals halftime performance, a parade at Walt Disney World , and the highlight of the year, The Orange Bowl Parade , in Miami Beach, Florida. The band performed at all football games to boost the Blue Devils on to victory. The pep band also made appearances at many basketball games and pep rallies. While in Miami the Band had some FLASHING experiences while around the pool. The boosters sponsored a New Year's Eve Party for the band, which was then followed by the band's own celebration of the event.  « DEVILETTES Devilette captain, Pam Watson, lead the corps in many activities which include various performances at football and basketball games, the pregame and halftime show at the Cincinnati Bengals game. This past December the Devilettes with the ZHS Band presented several appearances in Florida including one at Disney World, and one in the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami. On April 9th the Devilettes won 2nd place at State Competition that was held at Otter- bein College. They competed against five other drill teams in their catagory, Class A Live Music.
