Foreign Exchange Ar Yuma I-lion MARIA HOLM SWEDEN Here on the Fort Yuma Rotary Club is Na- mani Tsukasaki. She is from Toyota. Japan. Manami is 48 years old and a senior at Yuma High. She has stayed with three host famiies. Vonne and Karen Mcklaus. Bill and Nance Harris. and Bernard Ho werton. Manami plays the base drum in the band. She enjoys many sports including softball. football tennis, and baseball. Special thanks goes to her host famiies. all her teachers. the Rotary Club, and all the friends she made. She will bring home a lot of good times. Marian Reid is a foreign exchange student from Havelock North. New Zealand. She was sponcered by the Fort Yuma Rotary. Marian came to Yuma in January 4982 and left for New Zealand in January 4983. She graduated with the Class of 82. Marian has stayed with three separate host families. Carol and R. L. Sullivan, David and Betsy Broyles. and John and Maggie Gard. Marian would like to thank all the teachers and counselors for being there. her three host families, all the students for excepting her, and some very special friends she made on the way. Peter lrwdmer, on the AFS Program, is from Lucerne, Switzerland. He is 17 years old and a senior. He is staying with Bill and Karen Babb. Mr. Babb teaches special ed. here at Yuma High. Peter was on the cross country team and also enjoys playing soccer. When Peter goes back to Lucerne, he will have three years of high school left. The people Peter would like to thank are all his teachers, especially Mr. Thomas, all his friends, his American family, Pay Sanchez, and the cross country team. SWITZERLAND Heidi Grost from Southwestern England was here on the AFS Program. She is 47 years old and a senior at Yuma High. She stayed with two fam- iies, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Weber and their two chil- dren Jennifer and Jeff and Mr. and Mrs. l?aul Hernandez and their children Laurie and l?ueben. In England she participated in volleyball, badmin- ton, squash, swimming, and netball but because she attended beauty schooh unfortunately she couldn 't particwate in any school teams. Heidi would like to thank everyone in AFS who made this year possible. She would also Hke to thank all the good friends she made who she will always remember and charish, and to both host families and the teachers at Yuma. Marta Navas, from Cucuta, Columbia, is here on the AFS Program. She is 16 years old and a senior at Yuma High. She is staying with Ester and James Howe. Marta has two American sisters, Gail and Tanya which both attend yuma High School. She is a member of the cross country team. ln Columbia, Marta enjoys many sports in- CLUOVDQ tennis, track, and volleyball.
