Varsity Spikers Make Playoffs The Yuma High varsity volleyball team made it to the playoffs for the third year in a row. The Criminals lost, however, to our cross town ri- vals, the Kofa Kings, in the first round of the Central Division playoffs. The match was held at the Yuma gym. Coach Bruno said she was disappoint- ed about the playoffs but comment- ed on the rest of the season saying, We had a very good season, that surprised the other teams in our league, and the reason we gat there was by playing team ball the whale season, which we're proud of. Tankers Have 7-0 Season With a regular season of C7-OJ, the girls' swim team have made them- selves a statewide threat. On October 11th and 12th the girls traveled to Phoenix for state compe- tition. They came home having placed 8th in the state. Coach Jerry Seaquist was very pleased with their season. We had the best season Yuma High has ever seen. The team has had a lot of fun together, said Kari Kelsey and Dee Dee Lackey, team members. Kelsey went on to say, l'm very proud to be a part of Yuma High swim team, Paula Pollard said, Everybody had a lot of confidence, and we were very spirited. With no doubt Yuma High has made them- selves a recognizable team. Due to the resetting of district boundries Yuma has gained some very fine swimmers from Kofa, who undoubtedly have helped our Yuma High team.
