New Faces and Old Traditions Cheryl and Cindy Flavin were a new addition to the junior class this year. The girls moved to Yuma from Phoenix. The football team practices for their first game with Coro- nado. They beat the Dons 24-6. The Criminals season record was 5-5. L. B. J. Wins Mock Election Yuma High had an excellent turnout at the mock election held in late October. As usual, the students predicted the winner, Presi- dent Johnson . 4 The beginning of a new school year brought out, once again, many of the traditions of Yuma High School. Classes, rallies, and sports activities started the ball rolling for another booming year. The varsity football team retained the city championship trophy by gaining a 6-O victory over Kofa. New interest was taken in the school news- paper, the Thermoneter, from students and teachers alike, in a series of editorials and let- ters to the editor. Student Council took special interest in school and club activities and worked on im- proving the status quo. A mock election was held which proved the Criminals choice right again on determining the incoming president. To add interest to the election, Young Democratic and Republican parties were set up. A new class and several new upperclassmen that came to Yuma High were accepted imme- diately by the friendly Yuma High Criminals.
