...........Wc alutelfoufll Yuma High is my school and I want every- one to be as proud of it as I am. That is how Assistant Principal Henry Martinez sums up his feelings for his Alma Mater. He has always felt that way about the Blue and VVhiteg from his freshman days when he let- tered in football weighing 130 pounds soaking wetv til in 1939 as a senior he returned a quick kick in the season opener, ran it 75 yards for a touchdown, and went on to letter in football, basketball, and track. His education was interrupted by WWII and his service in the navy. After the war he completed his degree requirements at ASC Flag- staff, added boxing to his list of athletic accomp- lishments, and married the Campus F iestav Queen at Arizona State. Williams, Arizona, was the scene of his early teaching and coaching days. It was also the period of his life that he acquired his love for hunting and hound dogsf, His acceptance by the stu- dents and citizens of VVilliams was further at- tested to by his appointment as Principal of the Williams High School. Five years ago the desire to return to his hometown was fulfilled when he was offered an administrative position at his Alma Mater. During these years he has endeared himself to teachers and students alike and all who have come in con- tact with him know his intense desire to keep Yuma High second to none. We have found him to be strict without being unfair, he has handled the difficult task of school disciplinarian with firm but gentle hands and has eamed the respect of every Crim with whom he has come in contact. With sincere appreciation and fond affec- tion we dedicate the 1963 El Saguaro to a man who was a worthy Crim, while a student at YHS, and has returned to dedicate his knowledge and enthusiasm to making better Crims of all of us.
