SY NOP SIS This play takes place in the apartment of two college boys, Tom Arsdale and Oke Stimson. It is close to graduation time and Tom is preparing for the arrival of his father, aunt, and supposed-to-be girl friend, Tom receives word that they are coming sooner than he had expected, His father wants him to become engaged to Sylvia Web- ster, the supposed-to-be girl friend, before he graduates. Tom does not like this par- ticular girl and so he and Oke fix up a make-believe engagement with Babs Sanford, who is masquerading as the cleaning woman, Birdie Laverne. This engagement both surprises and angers Mr, Arsdale. He and Tom get into a few lively quarrels over the matter, but they are all in vain as far as Mr, Arsdale is con- cerned, When he turns to Caroline for assistance, he finds her on Tom's side of the argument. So Mr, Arsdale devises a plan in which he uses Chuck Mayo, who is search- ing for his girl, Birdie Laverne. This plan would go into action that evening when the girls were getting ready for the masquerade dance. But what Mr. Arsdale doesn't know is that Babs and Sylvia have exchanged costumes, As you may have already guessed, Chuck gets the wrong girl and gets into trouble. Sylvia, too, is very angry at both parties for having pulled such a trick on her, However, everything ends well when Sylvia switches her affection to Alfred Tennyson Murgatoyd, the class poet, Tom wins the argument permanently by asking Babs to make that fake engagement a real one, Oke has his interest trained on one of the girls at the college, Peaches Carter, And never fear, Caroline has grabbed a very sophisti- cated college dean, Dean Marlow, Asma, the Negro maid who is popping in and out of the play and making you laugh till your sides ache, ends the play beautifully with the statement: There's nobody girl shy here. Lawdy no! l
