FOOTBALL The football squad this season numbered some forty odd players of varying degrees of size and quality, They were greeted by head coach MauricefSandyp Sandstead and his assistant, Bob Baker after school began, After three weeks of calisthenics, drills, learning plays, working them out, and scrimaging, the football season started, Six conference games were played and there were fintersectional tiltsj with Estes Park and St, Francis, They finished the season with a won and lost record of one win and seven losses, The players played to the best of their abilities but their efforts were of no avail, All in all, though, the team learned cooperation, sportsmanship, working together, and had lots of fun during the hours of practice, At the end of the season the equipment was packed and stored for another year, At the coach's meeting, Nick Shea and Lowell Hansen were given honorable men- tion on the all-conference team, Although the record doesn't show it, the team has won many inside victories among the players themselves in bettering themselves for later life, BASKETBALL The hoop season started soon after football season ended, About twenty hoopsters met coach Sandstead on the basketball court the first night of practice, Due to all the calisthenics and running which were necessary for the sport, some of the boys dropped basketball after the first few night, The team began to take shape after a couple of weeks of practice. The team practiced in guarding, screening, shooting, faking, and passing, The team has a sixteen game schedule which includes twelve conference and four intersectional tilts, The boys on the team enjoy the long hours of practice together, plus the added thrill of competition with other teams,
