Left to right: Bill Sherwood, Floyd Robertson. liill I'lllHl0I'f'. Don Nlcljevitt, Jack Liles, Coach Duard Millet, Wes Branaman, Jerry Tower. Ed Warren, Al Powell, Al Schilling. Managers, kneel- ing: Dick Scrivens and Dick Clark. SEASON At the start of the season the outlook was dim with only two lettermen returning. Bill Fillmore and .Nl Schilling. the latter an all-league choice in 1952-33. Picked for the cellar. we surprised quite a few by coming in above Marysville and Placer while whipping fourth-place Roseville twice. Al Powell. Floyd Robertson. and Bill Revo Sher- wood. a trio that had little or no varsity experi- ence. developed fast and were great rebounders. with Sherwood showing at times a great scoring potential. Schilling. Fillmore. and ,lack Liles were good. consistent scorers and floor men: and Fill- more was chosen with Robertson to captain the team. REVIEW The low ebb of the season was reached when we dropped two of the three games and the Mather 81 Stewart Trophy to Marysville. Bright spot was the fact that Duard Millet. in his third year as varsity coach. developed what was considered to be one of the highest scoring teams in the league. ea -eaptmha Left: ROBERTSON-Husky Floyd. a transfer from Washington, had little basketball experience but quickly developed into one of the leagusfs finest rebound:-rs. Right: FILLNIORE-Bill, a six-foot senior, was the number two scorer in his second season of Varsity Basketball. His jokes kept the boys relaxed.

One reason for the teamis showing was a general lack of experience. as several Freshmen played. Tackle Fred Sehneiter. guard Frank Sanclow. and general handy-man Scotty Kuhnen were the standout per- formers of a team that featured speed. Coach Turner has pleasant visions nf the future after the showing of a strong Frosh team tutored lay lluard Millet. DEFENSIVE TEAM , V E-i., it an I. ' , , . U K Q-t .' . V Q Q- rf-,-,
