Donna Stinnett was the drum majorette. Ye ladies performed at all ye tournaments with the band and drill team. Ye ladies in their white skirts and brown letrerman sweaters fwhich they begged, borrowed, or stole from the boysj marched at most of ye home tournaments. Ye drill ladies also marched at the annexation parade of Ledford Tract. Ye lady of authority was Miss Hill with Miss Heseman as her helper. Wilma Gardner led the happy group, while joe Coomes was the vice-president, and Loretta Clark was Secretary-Treasurer. An initiation for members and new faculty advisor, Mr. Vaz, was held at a swimming party the hrst of the year. This will be well remembered, especially by Mr. Vaz. Irene Yoshikawa was awarded second prize in the Superior Division of january bookkeeping con- test. Fayetta Courtney was Oscar winner for 1949 and jean Bartlett won the sil- ver cup, the only one to do so in California. Mr. Esteps students have received 72 individual and school awards in the past 12 years.
