Senior English students test their knowledge while taking their semester exams. Cyrano de Bergerac, presented by the Thespians at Ysleta and TWC, is viewed by the high school audience. 22 Mid-term exams inspired a sudden wave of intense concentration and study during the month of January. With semester change, some stu d e n t s began new courses, while others took up a different phase ofthe same one. Honor societies busily planned programs and assemblies, either presented for the student body or for a special audience. Following the Quill and Scroll initiation of members, Diana Harrison Bruce Borrett, Eddie Trujillo, Mrs. Nancy Hoben and a student from South Loop Grade School attend the special reception.

Brightens Campus Energetic classes rallied to support the Decor- ate the Door Contest, sponsored by the pub- lications Department, competing with each other and beautitying the halls at the same time. With the help of several clubs, Student Council spearheaded a proiect new to Ysleta but old to El Paso's tradition, the lighting of luminarias on Christmas Eve. The high school was a first place winner in the contest. Down in the Valley, a folk musical, was presented through the ioint efforts of the choir, speech, and art departments at two performances. Following the old tradition of the Southwest, Ysleta High School's luminarias provided a vivid display on Christmas Eve. MISS DECEMBER, Jane Campbell, celebrates the Christmas season by visiting Santa. She represented the Orchesis club. 2l
