Eight new teachers were added to the staff to instruct the growing Tribe, and Clyde Wafer, princi- pal, returned to guide the Indians. New students attended three days of Freshmen Orientation where Tribe traditions were revealed. The students on the steps of the front entrance at right are Nicky Leitch, Carol Logan, Liz McCutcheon, and Pat Mc- Kenna. c l i 2 e g l As Homecoming advanced closer, Ex-Students began to fill the halls of their Alma Mater, YHS. During the day especially set up for them, the Exes were honored with an assembly, a tea, a pep rally, and that night they attended the victorious Homecoming football game. The Speech Department presented the annual Children's and the Fall plays, while excited Ysleta Maidens began preparing for the yearly Beauty Contest sponsored by the Annual staff. The entire Student Body looked forward to the Christmas holidays after almost three months of school. The day school let out for the vacation a Christmas assembly was held in the auditorium. A ,H I K sf , if i 2 .Yi i V of Christmas carols around the flagpole in front of the school. After two weeks off, students returned to school and began preparing for their semester finals during dead week, At the end of January registration for the spring semester began, The stadium is seen above with only a few Indians in its stands. The flag in front of the school is raised by ROTC Cadets Dave Adams and James Hoover, before many students have even arrived.
