'Q M Oviigx ll l?-' ! ll -rv B-:dvi That the lndlans regained the heights of gridiron status in 1955 IS not so remarkable That they attained such heights with the available maternal was allegedly inconceivable Such was the commentary over heard m District 2 AAAA after the Indian squad had emerged co champions from a feverish season race A careful backglance at the factors involved in this victory proved the achievement warranted Reportedly the Ysleta lads commenced the year possessmg only two notable attributes heart and hope But the originators of this assumption overlooked three other obvious attributes The first a ruddy raw boned Texas born ex marine yet to taste defeat In district athletic competition The second another ex marine from the Lone Star State servmg Ysleta High his fourth exceptional year The third a barrel chested previous alrman also a Texan experiencing his first big accomplishment in has career with the Tribe Each acquired his elementary and most of his advanced education in Texas. Texas boys and Texas material were not new to this team From the barest recruits this Texas trio molded a football squad which produced five all district players. Also during the gridiron season YHS school spirit rose to a pitch unheard In the Lower Valley for years Previously sparse stands were crammed to capacity in 1955, and the disinterest displayed during the lean years sparked into enthusiasm, caught fire, and blazed into a tumultuous thunder. Reflecting this spirit, we, the staff, dedicate the OTYOKWA of l956 to those three once overlooked attributes, those miracle makers J. W.
