Less than a mile south of Ysleta High School on the other side of the Rio Grande lies this fascinating land of manana which we border Americanos have learned to love. Sometimes called the treasure chest of the earth Mexico is even shaped like a cornucopia She is blessed as one of the richest mineral countries in the world com mercial fish waters surround her and the variety of agricultural crops provides a foundation for a truly healthy nation She holds high plans for the future Although Mexico is in many ways a pioneering country her social traditions are fashioned after the Old World rather than the New Mexicans are more ceremonious formal and leisurely liking to do their living as they go along while we North Americans are impulsive informal and hurried Because of their relaxed attitude toward life the Mexicans can be called the holidaylngest people on earth Dies y seis de Septiembre commemorating the Mexican Declaration of Independence from Spain and Cinco de Mayo celebrating the victory over French rule are only two of the many holidays which show evidence of a full and exciting history school year has been the fullest YHS has yet experienced and that our Alma Mater like Mexico will always hold high plans for the future My A ei: i
