The Student Council has worked more dili- gently than ever to make this year the best pos- sible for our school. The year began with Sopho- more Orientation. Al- though it rained, the annual Homecoming festivities, entitled “TV Commercials,” were a great success. A new committee system, in- volving students from the student body as members in addition to Council members, was put into effect. In addi- tion, the Council held a Leadership Training Workshop, a College Night and a Carnival. Our Council also initi- ated and executed the idea of the First Annual Ypsilanti Teen Festival.

The National Honor Society is an honorary association whose members are chosen on a basis of scholarship, leadership, character and service to the community in the spring of their junior year. This year N.H.S. became an active organization by writing anewconstitution. Their social and service activities included serving at Open House, hearing guest speakers at evening meetings and sponsoring a dime dance.
