Now I find myself 1n a theater As the program goes on I recogmze the or chestra leader as Fred Rafferty who has become a great musxcran The llghts soften and Isabella Altman smgs her song Lookmg closely I see Francls Cramer and Robert MacR1ll playmg m the famous orchestra The announcer appears and I recognlze hrm as James Ross In the lobby Kemth Zxmmerman rs seen H IS the owner of th1s beautlful theater I now find myself on a college campus As I approach the burldmgs I see that two of the Professors are frxends of mme Fay Crock IS Professor of Engllsh and Helen Blocksteln Professor of Scrence Wandermg down a long road and up a steep hrll I come to a farm There IS Owen Flsher now a prosperous poultry man A large truck comes up the drrve It IS drrven by M1ke Blanda who buys and sells l1ve stock Mrke tells me that he has seen George Long delrvermg m1lk rn the c1ty and Paul Long lS the darry owner I come to a small town and gorng along the street I see a grocery store I enter and there to my surprrse are Dean Crosby the manager and hrs two clerks Cecxl DeCaro and Wayne Shrader As I talk to them the1r Bookkeeper comes rn She IS Reba Ober Back to the crty agam th1s txme to a large manufacturmg Company In 1ts oHice I see Dale Brown Hrs prrvate Secretary IS Evelyn Hendrrckson Gomg through the large room filled wrth typewrrters I see that many of our frxends have been successful Clara Jane Rager Ann Sturtz and Vera Jones are typrsts Across the room I see Dorothy Overholt takmg drctatron from her boss Hrs face IS famrhar Why rt IS Clrfford Momeyer I see a telephone exchange and at the swltchboard IS Mrldred Sxllaman chxef operator There are Mary Brunot and Elda Mae Yarnell who are also employed Leavmg the1r office I go to a large Hotel Here I see V1rg1n1a Young and Mar1 lyn Todd on the1r vacatron They tell me that Mary Poerro IS the hotel hostess and that they have seen many of our old frlends As I srt down to rest I feel that I am far behlnd the rest of my class rn this fast changmg world I remember the burldrngs the people and the actrvxtres and wxth great gladness ln my heart I agam go to sleep Thls then IS the pro phecy of the class of 41 Dorls Barr ll 7 ' - . . Class Prophecy I am Mrs Rrp Van W1nkle I have slept for what seem fifteen years Thlngs about me are very strange for whrle I have been sleepmng the world has been changlng and I am not famrlrar wrth many thmgs around me As I wander out 1nto the street I am amazed to see a masslve stone buxldmg belng constructed As I go nearer I begm to recognxze people for they were my classmates of Youngwood H1gh rn 1941 I see Henry Qta1rs rs the archltect and has as hrs asslstant Clarr Myers Workmg for hrm are other famrlrar faces Henry Poerro Anthony Kamprtch and Thomas Wrble Comrng along the street I see a well dressed man He rs the owner of the bulldrng he lS Ray Brdar Gomg down the street I see a pretty lrttle beauty parlor Across the doorway I see a slgn Mme Buskey Under the drxer IS Kathleen Dell and as I look around I see some of her expert ha1r styllsts Mary Bodner Rozella Parker and Ruth Poorman I see a bus commg down the street and as I enter rt I not1ce that the drxver looks famrhar I remember hzm he IS Warren Stroble who once drove hrs Ford to Youngwood Hrgh On the bus I see Joe Blanda Robert Lmdauere and Irwm Moore who are now workmg ln a busrness of therr own Some one drops hrs paper and I see that the edntor rs Hays Ferguson and that Paul Kekrch rs the humorlst I also see that Elnora Swxft and Norma Wagner are on the staff As I look at the sports page I see names of other fam1lxar people Ray Rutter Jack O Keane and John Maxwell are gomg to play football 1n the Rose Bowl game My bus stops and I enter a smart dress shop There to my surprmse I find two of my old frrends Lo1s Ford and Betty Watson They are knlttmg and maklng dresses for Elsre Close and Margaret Koss for It IS near the Easter season I leave them and as I aga1n walk down the street I see two men rn umforms They are Leroy Baughman and Leroy Gersel who are now officers rn the Army I enter a large hospital As I stand amazed at the beauty of the burldmg I see a matron who goes from one place to another w1th qulet drgmty She IS Venlta Prlnkey just then the surgeon comes down the hall he IS Robert Laugh l1n Wrth hlm are other nurses Patrxcra Latta Eleanor Carlson and Mercedes Krrder 2 D ! J umor Class It was ln the fall of 1938 when we began our Hrgh School llfe, and our presence was made known by our pamted faces and anatomxes At last we were Freshmen and we were treated hke rt We had no sen1or1ty and all burdens were put on our backs We had a successful dance rn that year Then rn the school year 1939 1940 havrng gamed one year s standmg as sophomores, we gave the green Freshmen the punxshment that we had ex perxenced the year before That year also wrtnessed a very mce class dance Our act1v1t1es grew thrs year as Juniors and ln addxton to our annual class dance, we had a jumor Class Play and a Prom for the Senlors The play was named The Scarecrow Creeps' , and was very much of a suc cess under the able dlrectlon of Mxss Laird and Mr Mlnder The jumor Semor Prom held on May 2, was sald to be one of the most beautr ful our school has ever had Thls IS Earl Helman s th1rd year as Presxdent of h1s class It seems as though Presrdent Roosevelt were not the only presldent servmg hrs th1rd term Next year we ll be Semors and then who knows what the future may hold for us?
