MR. ROBERT ENGLISH Music Music gives many of us hours of pleasureg it often relaxes and soothes our tensions. However, to receive the full benefit of music, we all need to develop- sensitive and intelligent listening habits. This is the main purpose of music and the chief reason why it is required in seventh and eighth grades. It also provides the students with an opportunity to express themselves in music. They gain additional knowledge about the instruments of the orchestra and band and learn some musical his- tory. If students at the end of the eighth grade feel that another year of music would help them develop their musical appreciation to a greater degree, they may elect it in ninth grade. v Y nl-L, if -Y - ' ' 1, l' L Y V I. - Y , li' - , I. ,, Y --V- E MUSIC Classes in Visual Art are taught to students in grades seven through nine.
