During the Week of October 21-29, the seventh grade was orientated to the layout and operating procedures of the library, and on October 30 the library was opened to the entire student body. The library training class, consisting of 47 students, meets in the library during activity period. This class familiarizes interested students with the ftmetions. of the library. Ratfaflskl SECRETARY The Student Council is the governing body of our high school, under the guidance of Mrs. Knapp. The members are elected by their fellow classmates in each homeroom. Also, each class as a whole elects delegates to represent them in, the Council. These students must have an 85 average grade. One of the Council's first activities was the Welcome lnga Dance. The foreign exchange student is always an honorary member of this group. Each year the Council presents a yearbook and an American Flag in remembrance of Youngsville and America to our exchange student. A new idea, that of having a receptionist in the lobby every period to- receive and assist any visitors to our school, was started this year. The group voted on the assem- blies to be presented during the 1963-64 school year. A committee from the Student Council worked with class presidents and faculty members to set up standards and rules concerning school dances. The Council sponsored the Frosty Night, our annual Christmas Dance, on December 20. As a money raising project, they sold folders in the lobby. Again, the group presented scholastic achievement pins to those students who ranked first, second, and third in each class.

LAYOUT Lay it out.', lt,s wrongln Lay it out againlw This group of imaginative stu- dents plan the positions of the pictures and Write-ups on each page. Layouts are done on special forms, the exact dimen- sions of the pictures and their positions are drawn through on triplicates. The completed triplicates are sent to the pub- lisher as blueprints for printing the pages. LITERARY '4Write-up's, write-ups, Write-ups, forever write-ups! This is a familiar exclama- tion from everyone on the literary staff. But, of course, that,s what this staff does. In addition, they help with the identifying of pictures, writing of captions, and alpha- betizing of the names for the class sections and the index. Left to Right: C. Emerson, J. Without their effoits, a single page could not leave for the publisher. These girls strive for accuracy because errors must be erased three times! Left to Right: A. Gantz, C. Nelson, V. Moronski, M.
