Jia. mrzenv Victory, victory is our cry! This cheer from our .1 .V. cheerleaders helped lead the boys on to victory. Mr. Shapiro coached these sophomore and junior boys on to a season with 19 vic- tories and 5 losses. Toward the end of this year's cam- paign, a group of these boys played in the varsity games. This successful season might L be an indication of the Var- ! sity Eagles of years to come! The .l.V. Eagles were led by Larry Persing with a total of 261 points for the season, followed by Denny Rigby with 111, Al Scott with 103, and Denny Mason with 101. The other boys and their scores were Lennie Thompson, 933 Don Snow, 643 Pat Shine, 615 Bill Slocum, 595 Ed Coleman, 483 Ken Buchanan, 10g Bob Wing and Tom Radecki with 7 each, and Tom Kane and Terry Radecki with 2 each. The team was managed by Frank Kwiatkowski and Terry Lucas. Under the coaching of Mr. James Miller, they had a record of 17 Wins and only 3 losses. They were UVAL champions and Went to the play-offs at Meadville where they were defeated by Mercer. There were ten lettermen this year, two of whom were receiving their third letter and seven of whom were receiving their first letter. In order to be eligible for a letter, a boy must have played one-half of the total quarters which were played during the season. The Starting Five BASKETBALL 9

Track at YHS is the harbinger of Spring. When the sweat-suited Eagles begin jogging around the oval, Spring cannot be far behind. The YHS team, coached by Mr. Toby Shea and Mr. Harvey Sha- piro, was characterized by a will to Win 'and a readiness to work. Trackls a sport Where an individ- ualls effort is sometimes more im- portant than a team effort. But, Whether the event was a solo as the high jump or a team effort in the mile relay, our Eagle thinclads developed a fine record for the sea- son.
