Developmental reading seeks to improve reading efficiency by focusing the student's attention on organization of materials, de- tails, vocabulary, inferences, and the factors which lead to understanding. Also, through the use of laboratory techniques, speed is increased by increasing the span of perception. The methods of instruction are designed to help the students become better readers of all types of material, and better students in all subiects requiring reading. 23
