1959 will mark the opening of Youngstown University's new science building. In anticipa- tion of this event we dedicate the 1959 yearbook to the spirit and hope which are symbolized in the planning, construction and opening of the science building. VVe can feel free to dedicate this yearbook to the science building only if we constantly remember that it is Man who upholds scientific knowledge and who constructs science buildings. The building, alone, is an outward symbol of the optimistic hopes and spirit of man. Without the curiosity and intellectual endeavor of man the building would mean nothing. The spirit and hope manifest themselves in the men who possess the perseverance to pursue their goals consistently, the courage to challenge assumptions critically, the intelligence to reflect upon what proves unsound constructively and the integrity to use the fruits of their endeavor wisely.
