DOMINIC MARTIN, PRESIDENT Dom Martin, junior class president, is an elementary education major. Early in his col- lege career he arose on the political horizon. He was elected president of his freshman class. Dom is an active participant in Youngstown College affairs. Chairman of the Discipline Committee of Student Council, advertising manager of the Neon, holder of a high scholas- tic record, and an all-around student. His abil- ity and perseverance have enabled him to at- tain the standing he now possesses. Harry Altman, Evelyn Booth. Don DeC-Zenovcx. OTHER OFFICERS juniors Harry Altman, Evelyn Booth and Dan DeCenova served as vice-president, secre- tary and treasurer respectively. The many duties of upperclass officers kept them quite busy. Both Harry and Dan are business ad- ministration majors and Evelyn is a physical education major. l DOM MARTIN Time waits for no onel And so it is with school. Already the sprightly juniors can look back upon three years of accomplishment and forward to one more glorious year. lt will be a year of further triumphs tinged with the natural regret of partings, but sweetened by rich friendships and fond memories. This year was particularly significant for the fact that women took new roles in junior class functions. jean Law deserves to be compli- mented as the first woman chairman of the Snowflake Frolic. Ruth Wear was a swimming instructor in the Physical Education Depart- ment and also won the title jambar Sweet- heart for December. While the women excelled in their respec- tive fields YoCo's men have also accomplished much. Phil Snyder was chosen Youngstown College's Prettiest Guy and is a member of the tennis team. jim Mahoney was editor of the jambar. The up and coming seniors are well-pre- pared to engage in their final stage of under- graduate participation. We, the graduating seniors tip our hats to them and wish them the best of luck. -l l 27

Sa damaze Zhao GUS MARULAKIS Two down, two to go . This familiar theme can well be the keynote of the sopho- more class. At this half-way mark, these soph- ists can well expect two more years of football, frolic, and factl This is the time in college when students are the most carefree. They have passed the initial hump which alone can be sufficient reason for their easy-going manner. The class of '53 can boast of many promi- nent personalities. ln royalty-charming Lois Zuercher reigned at the i950 Homecoming, and lovely Claire Komara was crowned l95l Mardi Gras Queen. The annual Bare Brunch, held in the early part of May, is under the chairmanship of a Sophomore student. Sports figures did much to enhance YoCo's competitive records. Dick Weichsel captained the swimming team for two years and was an announcer on one of the Youngstown College radio shows. Dramatics was a favorite field among this year's Sophs . Radio and Stage stars Wilson Hamilton and Marge Pope provided entertain- ment for Youngstown audiences. Youngstown College will be pleased to have the able class of i953 among its student body, for at least a couple of years. GUS MARULAKIS, PRESIDENT President of the sophomore class this year president of the freshman class last year, this young man seems to be making success quite a habit. No doubt his interest in politics is stimulated by his major objective-to become a lawyer. A future army officer, Gus is regis- tered in the basic course of the Military Science and Tactics Department. Although the intellectual side of life takes up most of his time, he still finds energy to devote to social activities. He is a member of the Nu Sigma Rho fraternity. With his record of achieve- ment, Gus will have no trouble attaining the high goals he has set for himself. lack Shea, Mary Martine, Howard Grcxhcxrn.
