FACULTY Since the beginning of the Young High School the faculty has tried in every way to co-operate with the students and make them feel that they are in a high school. ln the six years that the graduating class has been in the Young School, they have always found that their teachers were willing to give them advice on both school matters and outside activities. There has always existed in the Young School a splendid feeling of friend- ship and cooperation between the students and faculty which will always be remembered. 8

DEDICATION We dedicate this yearhook to Mr. Willis Thomson who has guided us through our high school life with such great understanding and sympathy. He has pre- sented all the issues which have confronted us in such a way as to make our paths clearer. He has emhodied all those principles which will help us to live cleaner, hetter lives. Never has he confused current idols with lasting ideals-he is a true idealist. This dedication is our present way of thanking him for those high standards which he has set for us. It is our fervent wish that our conduct in future life will he our real thanks. 7

l ll Ili 152 U lllllltq When the naval base at Pearl Harbor was so treacherously attacked by the Iapanese, a strong feeling of patriotism and resentment also Was aroused Within us all. Most of us were satisfied to remain in the background and Watch others do the task of Wiping the earth clean of the foes of our democracy. But a few felt obliged to get in now and become an important cog in our war machine. Bill Wuerz, a former member of the Castle Courier staff enlisted in the army and is now stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Osmond Willie felt that the navy was nearer his heart and he is now stationed at the Diesel Engineering School at Chicago. The third member of the first graduating class who heeded the call is Charles Italiano who also enlisted in the navy and is now at Newport, Rhode Island. We should all feel a thrill of pride when we think of these classmates serving the colors for this great cause. We can only say we Wish them luck and good hunting. 9
