Major sea assignments since that time include Command- ing Ollicer of Destroyer Escort USS Evans CDE-10231 from 1966 to 1968, Commanding Officer of Guided Missle De- stroyer USS Tattnall CDDG-195 from 1968 to 1970 and Com- mander, Destroyer Escort Squadron Eight during 1971 and 1972. Significant shore tours have been as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to the Commander in Chief, U.S. Naval Forces Europe, 1970-71, and duty in the Manpower Plans and Evaluation Division Joint Staff, OJCS from 1972-74. Cap- tain Donnelly attended Armed Forces Staff College in 1968 and was a member of the 1975 class of the National War College. Prior to assuming command of USS YOSEMITE CAD-191 on 7 March 1977, Captain Donnelly completed a second tour in the Bureau of Naval Personnel where he served in the Plans Division as Head, Active Oflicers Plans Branch. 1 1 1 I I l I COMMANDING OFFICER RICHARD F. DONNELLY CAPTAIN USN Captain Richard F. Donnelly was born in Toronto, Cana- da. He moved to Illinois in 1939, and later attended New Trier High School and Northwestern University where he was a participant in the Contract NROTC Program. He was graduated from Northwestern University in 1954 with a B.A. degree in Business Administration and a commission in the U.S. Naval Reserve. His first duty assignment was as Gunnery Officer aboard USS Salmonie fAg7l26j. Following a brief period of inactive duty, Captain Donnelly requested recall in 1957 and was ordered to USS Greenwood CDE-6795 as Weapons Officer. While on G ' reenwood, he was advanced to Executive Officer and in 1958 was augmented into the Regular Navy. During the Vietnam conflict CDR LINDSEY served successive tours as Commanding Officer of River Patrol Sections 541 and 532 in the Mekong Delta. His tours ashore included NROTC Purdue University, Naval War College, Newport, and as a Ship Material Ofiicer on the staff of Commander Naval Air Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
