For some of us it meant trying to escape the clutches of the rack monster fusually impossiblej. For others it meant time to read, or to write letters, or to work on courses. Still others mustered on the flight deck to exercise or play basketball, and some just Watched the ocean and the sky, and thought about things in general. In the evenings there were movies and bingo and cards to pass the time, and of course the men who manned the bridge and engineering stations had their long night Watches to keep them occupied.
