The Bears gave the fans something to cheer about, especially since they were felt to be strong play-off contenders. Football fever was high as they were rated eighth, then sixth in the state in con- secutive weeks, before being knocked off. Though determined to make a fine finish, they defeated the number ten rated Southem Rebels in the highlight game of the year. Senior Parentis night was disappointing, yet exciting, as they played to their potential before a very large crowd of Union Yankee and Bear fans. This game meant the Bi-County title and a trip to the play-offs, but the Bears came up short. We would like to extend our congratulations to the Bear players and coaches for a fine 7-2 season, which everyone can he proud of! Good luck next year in another fine team effort!!! 56
