About Us Ads. .11 D S DEDICATIO For the past twenty-one years, Frances Watson has been our librarian here at Yorkwood. Since 1961, she has helped the hundreds of students and many teachers who have come through Yorkwood, to better themselves and further their education with the resources in our library. As well as the passage of time and people through our halls, Frances has seen the growth and changes of our school. She has added something to the spirit of our school that will always remain a part of it, despite what time or changes may do in the future. As with most schools, in its own quiet and stately way, the library is the very essence of what learning and knowledge represent. In her years with us, Frances has helped our library and our students to meet and benefit from each other. For these many years of service, dedication and helpfulness to both students and teachers, we dedicate this book to her and wish her all the best as she retires. A- 3, 3 ui, 30 'W ROYALTY REIGNS LQ, Xe Homecoming is a time of great spirit, in which the student body backs their team all the way!! Teachers and students decorated rooms, cheerleaders had dress up days, the band prepared a spectacular half-time show, and the football team practiced for the big game. All went well as the cheerleaders fired up the pep rally crowd, awarded the best decorated room, and performed a skit about the Bear,' football team, and cheered everyone on! But, when game time comes there can only be one winner as the Panthers declawed the Bears. This year we rounded out festivities with a hayrack ride and weiner roast which filled all with good feelings of friendship, no matter what the outcome! Steve Grave's ,81 Bears had a tremendous season! The Bears gave the fans something to cheer about, especially since they were felt to be strong play-off contenders. Football fever was high as they were rated eighth, then sixth in the state in con- secutive weeks, before being knocked off. Though determined to make a fine finish, they defeated the number ten rated Southem Rebels in the highlight game of the year. Senior Parentis night was disappointing, yet exciting, as they played to their potential before a very large crowd of Union Yankee and Bear fans. This game meant the Bi-County title and a trip to the play-offs, but the Bears came up short. We would like to extend our congratulations to the Bear players and coaches for a fine 7-2 season, which everyone can he proud of! Good luck next year in another fine team effort!!! 56 THANKS SENIORS!!! Standmg L to R B Hinton D. Bulen, T. Westergren, P. Woerly, B. Hall. Kneeling: D. Raes, J. Dutton, B.
