Football Win, lose, win, lose, seemed to be the pattern of the 48 squad on the football gridiron this year. Although not as successful as the 47 season, the team was fighting all the way. Handicapped by two injuries early in the season, they nevertheless went on to capture 2nd place in the Fox Valley Conference, The team will lose seven players this year but despite this there will be excellent material left over for the 1949 season. Everyone wishes them luck in beating our record this year. Charles Dirst was acting captain of the year while Bill Beck was elected as honorary captain. SEPT. W. Ba ketball Above you will see our winning first team who lost only three out of twenty-one games thus far played, since November 19th to February 18th. They took third place in our Holiday Tournament, first place in the Con- ference Tournament held here this year and cofchampionship with Minooka in the Conference. We also have the fox in our possession. This year we are losing four good men, Dollman, Dirst, Wayne, and Merkel, who spurred our team to victory. Our second team came through this year to provide us with some very exciting games as you can see from the close scores listed below. We hope that next year they can do as well or better when they are promoted to first team. lst Team 2nd Team lst Team 2nd Team We They We They Plano 44 38 18 29 Oswego 57 29 33 24 Oswego 31 33 27 21 Mooseheart 45 43 33 39 Plainfield 51 36 29 30 Plainfield 59 35 26 19 Sandwich 58 48 22 19 Batavia 58 43 38 37 Newark 48 44 24 29 Newark 47 67 31 29 Minooka 44 38 33 32 Plano 64 5U 32 25 Orland Park 62 44 18 17 Minooka 45 37 44 45 West Chicago 62 36 36 31 Orland Park 48 82 18 31 2 ZND TEAM First row, left to right-D, Miller, C.
