DEDICATION To you, Old Yorktown High, we dedicate this book, the last and supreme efforts of the Class of '55. For many years, you have suffered the pain of repair and remodeling, always hoping that the facelifting process would hide the fact that you were no longer adequate. Each year, you sought desparately to conceal the truth from prying eyes-and yet, secretly you knew, you could no longer face the onslaught of pupils that each term advanced upon you in ever increasing numbers! Relentlessly, they surged up and down your aisles, they pushed and iostled in the halls, until, at last you admitted to any and all who were willing to listen, l'm through,--l'm too old, -I must yield to someone younger and stronger than l. Then, there came an overwhelming feeling of relief. You had given the responsibility to the community and now it was up to the people of Mt. Pleasant Township to sponsor your successor. Yes, Old Building, you are being replaced. The students of Yorktown are looking forward to a wonderful future in a new, up-to-date building. But, in the hearts of the people of this com- munity, you, who have housed our hopes and dreams, and am- bitions, will always be remembered and loved.
