OUR FOR Within the complexity of the Naval organization is a Task Force especially designated to hunt out and kill submarines, one of the deadliest enemies of the merchant fleet. This group combines the effec- tiveness of surface ships, submarines, and aircraft into onegfighting force which the enemy submarine fears the most. Such a Force is ours. .With the Fighting,Lady .as the nucleus, under the direction of CQMCIARDIV-l7, a host of power can be sent against 'the killers of the deep.

First the fixed-wing aircraft fS2F and AD5Wl are sent out to search for the hidden submarines, which can be within a hundred miles of the carrier. Using their radar equipment they try to detect some part of thesubmarine that might be showing above the water. Even a small snorkel is not hidden from the eyes of this precise radar If a contact is made the pilot makes a fix and the action begins ' 1 ..................i..--, -W
