M ,J ef ' M-W4 ,f sfzfiwf ,W W , vi ,f -M ' f 4' ff .Q MISSION OF THE NAVY To maintain control of the sea.. Our country is dependent on raw materials im- ported from nations across the sea. ln order to continue being a prosperous nation the sea must be keptijopen to all merchant ships, and the safety of these ships must be maintained. ln time of war the enemy will try to take control over the sea and stop all transportation of materials necessary to our country. This stranglehold will virtually starve us to death. Thus our task is to protect the life lines to our country on the seas and to ensure that the necessary materials are transported across them safely.
