5 The LADY is a hungry ship. Here she replenishes her larders while at sea. The LADY is a large ship, she must be to care for her own. Nearly 3,000 menq live aboard her. Three football fields could be laid end to end on the flight deck. One of her hanger bays accomodates a thousand men when movie call is sounded. A thousand automobile 'engines would be required to produce the power her four turbines generate. A complete hospital, a bakery, a tailor shop, laundry, weather station, and a hundred other services are complete within her. She is a hungry ship too. She carries fuel for herself and her destroyer plane guards, as well as jet fuel and aviation gasoline necessary for the aircraft. Her men are hungry too. For them she provides daily bread, over.'700 loaves each day. Their appetites are voracious, 11,000 pieces of silverware are used at a normal meal. Like good Navymen every where the LADY'S men like coffee, they drink over 15,000 gallons of it each month. N 'MM- Three football fields could be laid end to end on the flight deck

Her objectives in cruising the waters of the Far East are many. She is a protector and a buffer in the hostilities between the Asian nations. At the same time she is training her crew to become more skilled, making them ready for the defense of American intesrests, if necessary. The LADY cannot be accounted for in terms of firepower alone. Her men from Seaman to Captain represent a real part of American diplomacy. She represents the personality of the Americans, and is a symbol of world peace through strength., The sacrifices of the men who built her, those who have maintained her, and those who have died in her cause, have earned her the title she proudly bears. THE FIGHTING LADY. . , The LADY'S largest, the Savage, is readied for 'er'.: 5 3 launching
