, n The flight deck gang demonstrates their ability to cope with any situation. I The Air Department of the Fighting Lady is one of the largest andrmost important on .the ship. Working under command of the Air Bossf they have the responsibility for move- ment and maintenance' of our aircraft. The blue, 'i green, red, yellow, and brown shirted crewman are a ' stirring ekample of Yorktown teamwork as they fuel, spot and service the carrier's air arm. Catapult and arresting gear crews work long hours to enable the aircraft to Hy from the ship. During the ORI they set a new record by raising the emergency barrier in less than a minute and a half. The casual observer usually stands in awe when Air Ops are in progress, due to the never ending display of alacrity shown by the men of this department.
