Words that are certain ,to attract ,attention aboard the LADY are MAIL CALL . Word from the folks at home often delayed by long periods at sea is always eagerly awaited. However, sometimes COD, Carrier Overseas Delivery, follows the old axiom, and the mail does get through. The TF Avengersithen become the most popular aircraft on board. Effective distribution of mail took only a matter of an hour or two from the time it arrived, with the eager cooperation of yoemen and postal clerks. That doesn't look like a mail truck! Looks like everyone got some today This IS how our mail is sent while at sea. mell 133217 'I f l, 21.14 ,M .,.,... b ' i Lei l I' . l It's our homey lets keep it clean. The LADY has her share of spit and polish, and on Friday afternoons the evidence is clear. Inspection teams, and officers with microscopic eyes and mind- reader assistants, look the LADY over. Gleaming brass and polished decks are a tradition in the Navy, and field day is not a Walk through the Woods, as every Seaman can verify. A mystery of the sea is, Where does dust come from a thousand miles from landv? From stem to stern the Yorktown is a glittering example of a proud ship when her men have really turned ton. All hands turn to in order to keep the LADY looking her best
