VFP-61 LCDR Harold Johnson VFP-6 1 Far reaching eyes of the fleet. ln recent years, each attack carrier of the Pacific Fleet has had assigned to its air group a detachment of Light Photographic Squadron 61. Each detachment is a self-contained unit, trained and equipped to perform as a team, whose job is to provide aerial photographic reconnaissance. Under the leadership of LCDR Harold E. Johnson, the detachment's five ofhcers and twenty six men have served as a small but important part of the Yorktown team. Operations throughout the cruise were characterized by a high state of readiness. VFP-61 is further distinguished for being among the Hrst detach- ments qualified for night photography.
