About the cover. . . y The cover we have used for the 1957 FIGHTING LADY is a copy of the ships insignia. It symbolizes what we have tried to present to you in this book. The Blue and Gold are traditionally the Navy's, the gray is the color of our ship. The globe in the background shows the boundries of the Pacific Ocean which is the LADY'S domain. Here' she was born, lives, and fulfills her mis- sion. The world symbolized in the insignia is a peaceful one now. We hope THE FIGHT- ING LADY will continue to contribute her part in keeping it that way.
