Masked surgeons treat patient in ship's modern operating room. No matter what the ailment, the Yorktown Medical Depart- ment can take care of it. A staff of three doctors and twenty-eight ofthe Navy's best corpsmen keep a round the clock vigil. There is a medical Ward Where the patients are housed and cared for, a complete pharmacy, which is capable of compounding practically any type of pill, potion, salve or other medicine. The modern operating room has the necessary equipment to perform almost any type of operation Cincluding delivery of babiesb. There is a physical examination room for conducting physicals, a laboratory for such things as blood tests, an X-Ray room and a complete clerical office. Care of the sick and injured and preventive medicine is the Medical Department's primary mission in keeping the LADY a happy, healthy ship. COMMANDER WARREN H. RUHMANN, MEDICAL OFFICER
