The Student Govern- T ment Association at York TEC serves as the nucleus of ' all student activities on campus. T Some responsibilities of the SGA are to represent the student body at all offical functions of the college, pro- mote the social, cultural, and industrial standards of the college, and to act as liaison between the student body and the college admin- istration. Membership consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and one or more representatives from each department. Night students are represented by an SGA Advisory Council chaired by the Vice President. The leaders of the SGA are com- mitted to serving the student body and to developing student awareness of the many facets of life at the college. The Association provides students in all areas of the college a voice in student affairs, as well as the opportunity to engage in the democratic process. PHI THET KAPPA Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor fraternity for junior college students whose purpose is to recognize and encourage scholarship and to provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service. To be eli- gible for membership in the York TEC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, a student must be enrolled in one of the following: College Transfer, Data Processing, General Business, Accounting, Medical Lab Technology, Radiologic Technology, Nursing, Civil Engineer- ing, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Gen- eral Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Management. In addition, a student must be fulltime and must complete two quarters of a two-year program. He must have a G.P.R. of 3.5 or higher and should be of good moral character and should possess recognized qualities of citizenship as judged by the faculty.
