It was two girls with whom I went to school twenty years ago. They were discussing what had happened to the kids in the class of 56 . They say that Ed Baker is now a sergeant in the Canadian Mounted Police. He'll get that criminal if it kills him ! Marian Books is now chief cook at Bob's Diner, I wonder what is on the menu for today? Ask Herm he might know. Doris Bupp is now married and is living in Mis- souri, where her husband is a minister. The oldest of her five children is now beginning her first year in college. Larry Hess and Ronald Chronister now own a large dairy farm in Adams county. They keep York Springs well supplied with buttermilk. Richard Decker owns and operates a large airport at Hampton. He is also running for the office of Mayor of York Springs. I sure pity those high school students who are en- rolled at Boiling Springs HighSchool. Especially since Lena Fernbaugh is now on the teaching staff. She is also married to Creeden Coulson and has two charming children. Janet Golden, since graduating from Thompson College in Harrisburg, is head of all secretaries at the Slim-ex company. Carol Griest is married to Tom and lives in Germany. What a time she is having! Her kids speak German instead of English. Karol Hess is a full-time model. In her past time she helps her husband Archie pull teeth! ! 18 Mary Klinger had graduated from Anderson College and is only a part-time music teacher at Biglerville High School. She's kept too busy by her three devilish redheads. Look out kids! There's a new cop on the road. He signs his accident reports with the name of Robert Megonnell. Margaret Miller, after working as a secretary for 5 years, finally decided to change her name to Marks and raise a family. She sure got a good start— two sets of twins. Judy Mulkey, since graduating from Shippensburg College, has been teaching school in Louisiana. She also owns the greatest Bug collection in the state. Boy, did you hear about the new jazz band that is storming the country. No wonder! The leader of the band is that drum-happy boy, Lari Rhoades. He's setting the country on fire with his JAZZ. Dorothy Riley how holds the position as private secretary to the President of the United States. And, of course, she's married to the President's son. Boy! Does she ever wear the furs now! Valena Shaeffer is now full-time organist at her church. She gives organ lessons in her spare time. Wanna learn ? Charlotte Taylor is now a nurse at the Gettysburg Hospital. She is going to marry the Head-Doctor in May. Boy, will her kids be healthy. Judy Weigle is teaching Physical Education in Lit- tlestown High School. She and her husband, Bob, live in Littlestown with their ten charming boys. That will make a baseball team plus a waterboy. 19 We, the graduating class of 1956 do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament, and thereby declare null and void any other will made by us at this time or any time before this. To the class of 1957, our ability to get along together. To the class of 1958, our excellent study habits. To the class of 1959, our ability to get away with chewing gum in class. Glenn Kemper, Athletic 1955-56 has been a very busy year for our Athletic Department, headed by Athletic Director, C. Glenn Kemper and Coach, Alfred Billett. Intramural Volleyball was initiated here for the first time for a six weeks period in the fall. Close on the heels of Intramural Volleyball came our Varsity Basketball season. The teams and the Cheerleaders showed fine school spirit, although at times the odds seemed heavily against us. Following Basketball Season, our Baseball team got in full swing, headed by Pitcher Bob Megonnell and Catcher Larry Hess, the two Seniors on the squad. This is the first year that York Springs has been in the O'Shaughnessy playoffs and our school was very proud when they tied for second place in the County League. Seniors who participated in Varsity Basketball received gold and silver cups at the end of the year. Senior Judy Weigle and Sophomore John Schlotzhauer were awarded the most valuable players trophys and Judy Weigle was chosen for the County League All Star Team. Our Athletic Department has been at work trying to reorganize a Football team for our school for the coming season and they anticipate a spectacular season, 1956-57. 3fi 38 Student Council Play ORANGE CAST - FIRST ROW. left to right: Jane Highlands.
