Bernard D. Hughes Supervising Principal I appreciate the opportunity that God has given me to have in some small way played a part in the suc- cess of the class of 1955. May God grant each of you a happy and successful life. Amos D. Meyers Administrative Assistant Head Teacher Dear Class of '55: Someone has wisely said that the mark of an educated person is not that he has completed high school or college, but that he never ceases learning. It was two girls with whom I went to school twenty years ago discussing what had hap- pened to the kids in the Class of '55. They said Jerry Anderson joined up with a rodeo that was in town and went out West. He'll break his neck one of these days. Fern Bosserman is a research technician atthe Rocke- feller Foundation in New York. I wonder what new antidote she'll discover next. I wish I were in Marcia Bourgh's shoes. She is in Ha- waii. She and her husband were sent there five years ago by the Civil Service. Lucille Bubb has been married for the pasttwenty years and lives in the West Virginia Hills. Did you see the four Hollidays of different sizes running around? Poor Donna Chronister married a boxer and she sure has a time making those two big boys of hers tow the line. Guess who I bought my new car from the other day? It was John Fair who is now president of General Motors here in town. . Richard Griffie and Mervin Masemer are large scale farmers. They each have about five farms and six kids. Did you see that Beauty Salon on West High Street in Idaville? Delores Group owns it and gives all the latest hair styles from Paris. I saw Doris Group and Laura Guise the other day. They each have two sets of twins. I wonder if that is becoming a family tradition. Didn't Lola Guise become slender? But then I guess she'd have to to become an airline hostess. Were you in Mike Guise's hotel yet? At long last he owns his own. It has twenty stories with a look-out top. Bobby Harbold went into the army when he graduated. He musthave liked it pretty well as he stayed in and can soon retire now. I heard that Nadine Hoak just came back from Africa where she has been a missionary for the past five years. I guess she is happy to be home. Dean Hoffman is a C.P.A. and has his own office in the Mutual Trust Company Building onNorth Boulevard in York Springs. I hear Tod Koons is with a Coast Guard Fleet on the Great Lakes. Nice exciting jobs. Think of all the fair dam- sels he gets to rescue. 44 PROPHECY Alice Krysher and Leoda Long are both secretaries in the Metropolitan Building down town. I hear they both have responsible positions and are doing quite well. I guess you know that Betty Riley is a seamstress in Bowmanfs Department Store. She alters clothes so that they flatter the feminine figure. Guess what! Larry Sealover and Bill Taylor are rivals for the best cattle and horse ranches in the state of Arizona. I hope it doesn't spoil the friendship they had while they were in high school. Marilyn Shank is teaching history in a little school near Bainbridge, Maryland. Her husband is still in the navy down there. Doris Smith was the first one in the class to get mar- ried. The lucky girl has had a content, secure life. Her hus- band is owner of a prosperous garage business. Your body will be in good hands when you die, Bob Smith will fix you up good as new, but he can't make your ticker run again. Jean Spertzel was a secretary for five years until her future husband got through college and out of the army. Now she is married and content just being a housewife. I went to the doctor's office in Idaville the other day and came face to face with Mildred Tate. She is a medical sec- retary. Of course, she married her boss. Robert Tate is working for the Super Jet Sales Company in Gardners. He said they have some snappy looking new 1975 models on display. Ronald Weigle followed in his father's footsteps and be- came an engineer. Just recently he has gone to Colorado to work. You know Ruth Wolfe has been working in the school cafeteria for the past several years. That's one place they need a good cook. Did you see that airplane flying over this morning? I'll bet Phyllis McCauley helped make that as she is working in an airplane factory. Loraine Myers has a day nursery in Idaville. I guess she has plenty of business with so many children these days. Well, I heard something about everyone that I was in- terested in so I hung up and left them finish their conversa- tion in private. 45 PATRONS Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor Mr. and Mrs. Clair Smith Mr. and Mrs. Clair Kennedy Mr. and Mrs. Claude Racer Mrs. Fianna Hoak Mrs. Susie He ikes Eleanor Wolfinger Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd F.
