rj mrewor York Road High School, 1965- -these two represent the name of a beloved institution and a year which symbolizes a decade of rapid growth for our young school and the end of a memorable epoch in our lives. For you, our readers, we, the Class of ' 65, have endeavored to capture a phase of that decade and to portray vivid moments of our sojourn in Wapitiland. The challenge of academics, the joy in competition and associ- ation, the emergence of personal and social values are all preserved in this storehouse of memories. Our achievements are recorded here for posterity. Our deepest appreciation is extended to our advisers for their unceas- ing work and advice, to our principals and faculty for their guidance and instruction, to our parents for their inimitable faith, to our supporters for their contributions, and to all for unselfish and patient understanding. It is our sincere hope that this edition of THE WAPITI will serve as a constant and happy reminder of all of these entities as we pictorially pre- sent Traveling through Wapitiland, 1965. A northwest view of our campus showing the gym- nasium and a portion of classroom building B. You are now within the portals of York Road High School, af- fectionately called Wapitiland. As you proceed on your journey, you see structures wherein our students are prepared physically, mentally, and socially to cope with the struggles and strifes of everyday life. York Road is also a proving ground for some of the finest athletes in the world. When our athletes are victorious in battle, a hearty clinging and clanging is heard throughout Wapitiland . . . the Victory Bell. Our victory bell is a dominant feature of our student center. Located in the southern part of our campus is our vocational building which houses our music department, art, home economics, and industrial arts departments. 6
