Sister Sandifer and Freddie Humphrey. 139 CLASS PROPHECY Today I was privileged to spend several hours observing Earth through the huge telescope in the Cosmic Observatory. This telescope is the largest ever built and shows at real sive any obiect in the uni- verse. The purpose of my observing Earth was to learn how my old classmates of the Class of '96 are getting along. because l haven't seen many of them since I came here to help colonize the moon twenty-five years ago. As I focused the huge apparatus on Earth, l turned it first toward what I remembered as the quaint little town of York, South Carolina. liut my eyes were greeted with the sight of a teeming metropolis, bor- dered by the residential suburbs of Tirlah lleights on the west and lfilbert Park to the north. Under the dynamic leadership of Mayor l3ll.l.Y SANDIVER, the once se- date little town has grown by leaps and hounds. Mayor Sandifer is said to have an efficient city govern- ment headed by the outstanding city manager, KENNETH HART- SOE. As the city has grown, so has our old Alma Mater, York High. MICKEY WARD is now the head principal, his leadership has been marked by progress and ach- ievement, largely because of the efficiency of his secretary, IJRAN- CES l5Al,l,S. l.ast week l saw another of my class while he was stopped over on .1 flight to Saturn, Commander GORDON FERGUSON, head of the new U. Space Flight Acad- emy, located on the outskirts of York. Commander lferguson and his space ship driver, BOBBY CANUPI' Qwho holds the universe's record for safe pilotingj told me some other news from Earth. l understand that York now has its own television channel, owned by EDDIE LAND and managed by FRANKLIN lil.ANTON. On the by LARRY WELLS The Ifirst Day of klune, 1986 staff of announcers are GENE JOHNSON, GEORGE l5Ol.l.lNfiER, and PERRY ASHLEY. BONNIE FOSTER has her own musical program, and XVAYNE HOGUE has put Wiltl Bill Hickok out of business. EBBIE McDANlEl. is now the owner of Dependable Buses, Inc., which has its main office in York. His drivers are NORMAN LEDIIORD, ANDREE BURNS, and ROIJDY CONNOLLY. York now boasts a twice-daily newspaper, THE YORK TIMES, edited by HAROLD HUDDLESTON. TONY PARKER is one of his reporters and CHRISTINE CAMERON LAWISON edits the w0men's section. The television studio and the newspaper officer were planned hy the brilliant woman architect, ROBERTA MARTIN. Miss Martin is now designing a clinical building for Dr. ZITA KING, the universally renowned eye, ear, nose. and throat specialist. Dr. King's receptionist is DOROTHY MONTCSOMIQRY and the head nurse in the clinic is JACKIE NORMAN. Top: Where you find laughter, these two will be in the midst of it. The Witticst among us: Doris Childers and Wayne Hogue. Bollam: Poisc makes n gentleman as well as n lady. To start the 1955 season, the Red Devils of Clinton gave us a 19 to 0 defeat. After heing defeated by Kershaw and Lancaster, the Dra- gons rallied to win a 20 to 0 victory over Fort Mill. The Red Cyclones of Chester had a hard struggle, hut they succeeded in revenging their loss in 1954. Again the Dragons rallied and rolled over Newberry with gl 26-I2 win. The XY'ildcats proved to he had In this action shot, we see Don Willinghaili, Basil Childe Currence, Bohhy Bolin, Franklin Blanton, Jimmy Moss, luck for both the Wiltlcglts of Xvinnsboro and the XVildcats of XY'.T.S. won gl victory over the hard- fighting Dragons. The worst blow of the season came when our arch rival, Clover defeated us 20 to 0, for this was the first time we had lost a game to Clover in 7 years.
