after many hard weeks of behind the wheel for our future drivers, the authorities relented and gave them their licenses, along with being late for class, secret meetings in the hall and eating in class, there were times of consultation with teachers about difficult problems. n

while the morning chemistry classes were busy experimenting on how to sabotage yhs, the american culture classes were “getting away from it all” in good ole Williamsburg, even though the 1 8-year-old vote did not pass in ya., the gov’t, classes voted anyway. 10

as the pre-school admit slip crowd finally dwindled away from mr. markoff’s office, the morning classes settled into the daily groove, nurse and brick masonry students seemed to be hard at work but you didn’t have to look too hard to find a few daydreamers. there was a rumor that yhs was sinking and you just might have believed it when you saw the big crack outside mrs. brown’s classroom windows and the wooden device holding up the wall! as noon drew near, students looked forward to lunchtime chatter and the sounds of wyes. 12
