early morning hours found students fortifying their stomachs with doughnuts and orange juice from the cafeteria, which provided a substitute breakfast for those who had overslept, other falcons spent the minutes before classes in line waiting for blue and pink slips, they seldom minded the length of the lines and were often seen switching from one to the other in a subtle attempt to shorten an unbearably long first period, others “toured the halls and still others gossiped in the corners, with the ringing of the second bell falcons drained their orange juice, grabbed absence and tardy notes, ended conversations, and made their way t o the inevitable first period class.

% 9 every day was a busy one here at york, the teachers’ day began with the familiar sights of mrs. seward saying ‘‘farewell till 3:30 to her hubby and mrs. credle putting up her no mistakes” timings! a few students got to school early in order to finish last night’s homework, while others played around in the halls, classrooms, mr. markoff’s office, etc. following the 8:30 bell, classes and work began (?) in spite of a few daydreamers, you could always see the government students scrambling for the morning newspaper, what would we do without current events they asked?! the halls were so crowded this year that the stairs were made one way. if you were caught going up the down staircase . . . lookout! 8
