I 27 28 the 3:30 bell sounds, students flock from boring classes to lockers, buses, and cars, but still the halls of york high are not silent, why? do you really believe that people like school that much to stay after every day? the only solution seems to be that they like to practice, yes, those students that remained after school were the guys who were interested in sports, the majorettes, and the cheerleaders, they practiced and strived for excellence in their performances, whether they were playing on the football field, cheering, or twirling a baton. I 83 before opening night the scenes backstage were anything but the expected, groups got together to do homework, some slept, some dan ced and a few raced on carts behind the curtains adding a little laughter to the monotony of backstage work, but the crews played their part well in “kiss me kate.” led by mrs. mills and student director anne wingfield they proved their worth many times over. 84 85 the opening night arrived, now each person realized that maybe they should have tried a little harder, practiced a little more, and played around less but each went on stage wanting to do their best, the final performance showed that all their work and tears were not in vain — york had another successful musical. 86 87 baseball, the american sport a good sport for york. coach mcconnell, leading york to the top. this year — a three-way tie for third, with blair and bethel, our record, 9-3. we barely made it, we were fifth a long time. 88 Huntington kecoughton , 11 p york 5 Hampton york 3 imencHville york 10 jomes bloit york 1 Warwick prk Or cler bigH ork 2 Pembroke 3 bethel coach mcconnell, much credit for him, more in this sport, than some, deciding positions, evaluating players, much credit indeed. Ill with the demand for their courses growing rapidly, the social studies program expanded its staff to one of the largest ever, being an election year and with the passing of the 1 8 year old vote, seniors diligently studied the framework of elections and the republican party, psychology was still one of the most popular courses and was highlighted by a trip to eastern state, but the most important event was the invasion of russia by a small band of york students, trading pens and rubles, the trip proved to be an exciting experience for all. mr. willard hunt 112 social studies dept.: row 1; mr. s. zalumas, mrs. c. pike, mrs. t. There is one thing yon can do, my friend. Air pollution is a big, complicated problem. One man or one company can’t do everything. But we can all do something. You can do something. You can change from leaded gasolines to Lead-Free AMOCO. AMOCO has no lead to pollute the air or your engine. AMOCO eliminates lead emissions, a major concern of health authorities. It reduces hydrocarbon emissions, too. Around 15%. For our part we’re trying very hard to solve the basic problem. For example, at all our facilities we’re working to fix whatever pollution problems we find. We’re working with car manufacturers, too. Some day soon they expect to produce cars that won’t pollute the air. Such cars will require a lead-free gasoline. And we’re ready. That’s the real answer. Cars that don’t foul the air. And gasolines that don’t either. Someday all gasolines will probably be lead- free. Right now there ' s only one. Lead-Free AMOCO Super-Premium. A OIL CO.
