Away from relatively formal classroom life, school spirit can be most easily expressed at athletic contests. In no other area is the superiority of different schools so clear- ly defined. The combination of York's power- ful athletic teams and enthusiastic student support is unique in its intensity. During the long school year, much learning is taken in half-consciously in the midst ofdesperate longing for the weekend. Athletics, a needed contrast to the sometimes deadening daily routine ofschool, is welcomed by both per- formers and spectators.

Now is forever. Enthusiastically sliding past the conventionalities ofexistence, we confront, vanquish, and continue once more our frantic pursuit ofsell-satisfaction combined with a life ofdeep meaning. Each year there are more years behind us, yet we cannot have passed through unaffected, for the illusion of memories is always present. Moments of shame and anguish, as well as love andjoy, are caught forever in the prism-like cage of the mind.
