Three . . . 4 IN THE HALLS BEFORE SCHOOL THE KIDS SEEM TO GROUP THEMSELVES with those of simi- lar attitudes. The original urge in high school is to become associated with a group, in this, all students are the same. There are many groups to become a part of: social, in- terest, athletic, to mention a few broad areas. Yet, York is a school, whose purpose is education. Do our lives in the halls have anything to do with our work in the class- room? As in several other departments, we all have a basic Blind . . . Mice. English requirement, will anything spoken of in that class help us to become accepted by one of the groups? R t During the course of every game, students disperse throughout the crowd to see and be seen.

I l tyf ff yea ff J' eff YORK STOOIJ SIIIENTLY WAITING AS IF ASLEEP in the chilled early morning sunlight. The trallic on St. Charles Road scuttled by, the tail pipes sending up little trails ol' vapor. Slowly, a few triekles of people began to t rn towards the school. Three ears wound up the driveg vo fellows walked briskly across the front lawn, and from the east, a group of girls chattered their way around the building. An oblong. yellow box separated itself from the St. Charles trallic. roared up the drive, and flung open its doors. Then out they piled, happy and fearful. reluctant and confident, bright-eyed and more than half asleepfa few of the thousands ol' attitudes of York. For the first of nearly two hundred times, York began to breathe and throbg York became a living thing, the myriad ol' diverse attitudes which 'joined together under one roof. For us to see a true picture of York. we must look very closely at that one factor which gives York its unique life: the attitudes of York. School cngulls thc heterogeneous student body, and a tolnblikf hush lalls over the grounds. 49 J., ,ef ,,-., K .I 4, . 1, I'-w lui
