Dashing across the inner court, students daily attempt to reach their classes with seconds to spare. 2 Students momentarily interrupt their conversation, before the see ond bell sounds, to dump overdue books under threat of receiv ing costly yellow slips.

The trallic on St. Charles Road scuttled by, the tail pipes sending up little trails ol' vapor. Slowly, a few triekles of people began to t rn towards the school. Three ears wound up the driveg vo fellows walked briskly across the front lawn, and from the east, a group of girls chattered their way around the building. An oblong. yellow box separated itself from the St. Charles trallic. roared up the drive, and flung open its doors. Then out they piled, happy and fearful. reluctant and confident, bright-eyed and more than half asleepfa few of the thousands ol' attitudes of York. For the first of nearly two hundred times, York began to breathe and throbg York became a living thing, the myriad ol' diverse attitudes which 'joined together under one roof. For us to see a true picture of York. we must look very closely at that one factor which gives York its unique life: the attitudes of York.
